Welcome Back, Campers!

Ocean Connections is excited to announce that the only marine mammal camp in the Midwest is BACK! We are extremely ecstatic to welcome your campers to visit their favorite flippered friends during our 2021 Summer Day Camp Programs.  The safety of our participants, staff, and animals is our top priority so we will still be adhering to guidelines set forth by the CDC and Milwaukee County.  Please thoroughly read through our protocols below so you and your camper(s) know what to expect before you arrive:

General Guidelines:

  • Approved face masks include: cloth face masks with two or more layers of breathable, washable fabric; or disposable face masks such as non-medical grade paper or procedure masks. FDA- approved face masks for sign language (ASL or LEP) interpreters.  Ocean Connections Saving Species Masks can be purchased by clicking here.

  • Unapproved face masks include: neck scarves or bandanas, neck gaiters of buffs, winter scarves, face shields, masks with exhalation valves or vents, masks with inappropriate images or writing.

  • All camp activities have been modified to support physical distancing practices.
  • Campers of the same households can sit together.  However, all other parties of separate families/households will be separated by a minimum of 6 feet.

  • Frequent handwashing and hand sanitizing opportunities will be provided however campers are encouraged to carry their own hand sanitizer with them.
  • Ocean Connections Education Staff is trained and equipped to thoroughly disinfect commonly used surfaces.

Pick Up and Drop Off:

  • Campers are required to participate in our health assessment prescreening process. This process includes a pre-camp questionnaire to be filled out daily by their parent or guardian and a no-touch forehead/temporal artery thermometer reading prior to campers joining us for the day.

  • Ocean Connections will be offering contactless pick up and drop off at the Milwaukee County Zoo Walk-In Gate.  Parents and guardians will have the ability to digitally check their campers in and out daily.

  • Drop off will occur from 9:00-9:15AM and pick up will occur from 3:30-3:45PM to allow for staggered check in and check out. If you have purchased extended care, please refer to your reservation for check in and check out times.

  • Ocean Connections Education Staff will escort campers to and from your vehicle during check in and check out.  Campers should remain in your vehicle until they have been fully checked in for the day.  Parents and guardians should remain in your vehicle until campers have been fully checked out for the day.

While we are anticipating a healthy, happy, and safe 2021 camp season, it is everyone’s responsibility to help us minimize the spread of COVID-19.  Please adhere to these protocols and refrain from sending your camper to their scheduled program if they are not feeling well.  All COVID-19 related rescheduling will be handled on a case-by-case basis. To make a camp reservation click here.
